We know that attending court and completing and filing documents can be an overwhelming experience. The Elizabeth Fry Society of Calgary’s Legal Information Program helps to make sense of the processes and information required in the complex court system. Women are provided with assistance in understanding criminal charges and addressing warrants. We also help them complete forms related to family and administrative law.

Many homeless women are unaware that they have tickets or warrants until they are arrested and incarcerated to address the fines. Their fines are often lower than the societal costs of their incarceration.

This Elizabeth Fry Society program fills the gap for those women that are not eligible for legal assistance through legal aid, and cannot afford their own legal support.
